Well written post! I'll reflect more on this over the next few days but my first question relates to this concept of recipes. In your experience, how do you keep track of what "recipes" you've learned? I often find myself in this triangle you've described (which hopefully is a good thing!) but wonder if I should keep my experiences intangible or if I'd benefit from some outlet. Maybe this is just a call for me to start journaling... I do despise writing though...

What a great question! One of the techniques I've leveraged is practicing one thing at a time. This comes from experience setting new year's resolutions - or even more practically, with playing a sport. When playing a sport there are so many things to adjust that it's easy to get overwhelmed and not make gains on any of them. When I rock climb, for instance, I mindfully focus on one technique per session. This approach helps literally hard-wire the lessons in your mind until they become part of the background.

You also correctly intuited my second suggestion which was writing things down. This is a great way to process what you've learned/what you intend to try - and is actually a big motivation for myself behind this blog. You might correctly note of course that the parallels here of mindful practice, daily intention setting, and journaling are also well traveled techniques in the general wellness space.
